The car, now known as Buzz (Lightyear - The new toy, from Disney's Toy Story), is the ex John Goasduoe 1992 ARC Daihatsu Challenge Charade. The Never Say Dai Rally Team is the forth owner of Buzz. With the help of previous owner Peter, the car was trucked down from Queensland in early August 2003.

The new car was a huge step forward the the Never Say Dai Rally Team, moving from the early model 1 litre carburetored G11 Charade to the much younger 1.3 litre fuel injected G102. This is the model that took Daihatsu to 6 Australian Rally Manufacturers Championships from 1991 - 1996 inclusive.

During the 2004 NGK Rally of Melbourne, we ran wide on a loose corner down the very fast and unforgiving Don Road. This resulted in a high speed collision with a large tree, destroying the car leaving us very battered. The impact was so heavy it smashed the gearbox to pieces, pushed the firewall back, crumpled the front half of the floorpan and even cracked the engine block. Incar footage of the accident is available below.

Here are a few pictures of the new car
